  1. What is the Youth Climate Action Fund (YCAF)?

The Youth Climate Action Fund (YCAF) is an initiative being implemented by the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly (KKMA) with support from Bloomberg Philanthropies. The Fund empowers young people to develop and implement innovative climate action projects that address environmental challenges and build resilient communities within the municipality.

  1. Who is eligible to apply?

Applicants must:

  • Be between 15 and 24 years of age.
  • Apply as an individual, youth group, school club, community-based organization, or youth-led non-profit organization.
  1. What kind of projects can be funded?

Projects may focus on:

  • Tree planting exercises.
  • Waste Recycling.
  • Plastic pollution reduction.
  • Climate change sanitizations.
  • Flood prevention and drainage maintenance.
  • Community clean-up exercises.
  • Sustainable agriculture practices.
  • Water conservation.
  • Renewable energy and energy efficiency.
  • Ecosystem restoration (Wetlands and waterways) etc.
  1. How much funding can I receive?

Successful applicants may receive grants ranging from USD$ 1,000.00 to USD$ 5,000.00, depending on the size and impact of the proposed project.

  1. Is there an application fee?

No. Applications are completely free.

  1. How do I apply?

Applicants should complete the official KKMA Youth Climate Action Fund application form and submit it together with the required supporting documents before the stated deadline. The forms will be availablable at https://www.kkma.gov.gh from 4th August – 16th September, 2026

  1. Where can I obtain the application form?

Application forms will be available through:

  • The Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly website.
  • The Municipal Development Planning Unit.
  • KKMA YCAF official and social media platforms.
  1. Can schools apply?

Yes. Schools, Youth Groups, NGOs and environmental clubs are encouraged to apply, provided the project is youth-led and meets the eligibility requirements.

  1. What expenses can the grant cover?

Funding may support:

  • Project materials and supplies.
  • Equipment for project implementation.
  • Community education and outreach.
  • Workshops and training.
  • Transportation directly related to project activities.
  • Monitoring and reporting.
  1. What expenses are not allowed?

The grant cannot be used for:

  • Personal uses.
  • Political activities.
  • Religious activities.
  • Activities unrelated to climate action.
  • Permanent staff salaries.
  1. Will grant recipients receive any support?

Yes. KKMA YCAF team will provide orientation, technical guidance, and monitoring during the project implementation period.
