The Spatial Planning Committee of the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly held a meeting on 22nd – 23rd April 2026 at the Assembly Hall to deliberate on the spatial plan for the Municipality and approve proposed developmental projects within the Municipality.
The meeting was convened in line with the Committee’s mandate to ensure orderly physical development, compliance with planning regulations and abreast themselves with new development in the sector.
In addressing the gathering, Mr Patrick Apraku, the Director for Land Use and Spatial Planning Authority, underscored the importance of the spatial planning committee in delivering development and generating revenue for the Municipality. He encouraged both works and planning units of the Assembly to work hand in hand in the discharge of their duties. He lauded efforts by the Assembly to automate the application processing to update applicants and stated the important role played by the Technical Special Committee (TSP).

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon. Samuel Morton as Chairperson of the Spatial Planning Committee chaired the meeting. Members present included, Municipal Coordinating Director(MCD) Mr Mohammed Adamu and representatives from; Physical Planning Department, Works Department, Environmental Health Department, Ghana National Fire Service, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Relevant Heads of Department and Technical Officers.

The Committee deliberate on development 29 permit applications received, sites visited and applications approved within the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly in accordance with the District Spatial Development Framework and existing planning regulations.

The Spatial Planning Committee meeting was successful and members expressed satisfaction with the quality of submissions and reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring effective spatial planning in the Municipality.
