Kpone Katamanso Municipal Assembly officially inaugurated new members of the Municipal Health Committee on 16th February 2026 as part of efforts to strengthen healthcare and improve service delivery within the municipality.
The inauguration ceremony brought together key stakeholders from the Municipal Assembly, the Health Directorate and the community. Present at the event were, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Samuel Tetteh Kwarshie Morton; the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Mohammed Ali Amadu; the Presiding Member, Hon. George Nuertey Ahingwah; the Municipal Director of Health Services, Dr. Esther Priscilla Biamah Danquah; the Medical Superintendent of Kpone Polyclinic, Dr. Jemima Quartey Mensah; the Chairman of the Health Committee, Dr. (Rtd) Seth Amanquah; the Municipal Administrator, Mr. Dzitse Michael; Alhaji Abdulai Tanko (Muslim Representative); PA (Rtd) Thomas Mensah Afful (Private Hospital Representative); Rev. Samuel Cofie (Christian Council Representative); Hon. Richard Kweitey Tetteh (Assembly Member); Hon. Jerry John Adjorlolo (Assembly Member); Nii Teye Kojo Amanquah Sune I (Traditional Council Representative); and Mr. Samuel Nortey (Community Representative).
The establishment of the Health Committee, in accordance with Act 525 section 23 align with the Assembly’s mandate to support health service delivery, promote community participation, and enhance oversight of health related activities within the municipality.
The Municipal Director of Health Services, Dr. Esther Priscilla Biamah Danquah introduced Dr. Seth Amaquah, as the chairman of the committee to the Health Committee members. In his opening remarks, he expressed the need to support his native town in all related health issues and also task the assembly to implement any recommendation submitted by the committee. He thanked members for giving him the opportunity to service and promise to deliver.
Following the Chairman’s remarks, the Municipal Director of Health Services delivered her address. She emphasized that the inauguration of the Committee marks a significant step in strengthening health governance within the Municipality. She noted that health begins not only in hospitals but in homes, schools, markets, and communities. Improving sanitation, strengthening maternal and child health services, addressing malaria and non-communicable diseases, and enhancing preventive healthcare require strong collaboration between the Assembly, the Health Directorate, traditional authorities, faith-based organizations, and the broader community.
She further charged the Committee members to see their appointment as a responsibility to advise with evidence, mobilize communities, support health programmes, and ensure accountability in health service delivery. She reiterated that a healthy municipality is a productive municipality and assured the Committee of the Health Directorate’s full technical support.
In The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Samuel Tetteh Kwarshie Morton remarks he stress on the strong collaboration between the Assembly, and the Health Directorate in improving access to quality healthcare services for residents. He also used the opportunity to inform the committee that some recommendation presented last year are been worked on.
After deliberations, the Presiding Member administered the oath of office to the newly appointed members, officially inaugurating them as the Municipal Health Committee for Kpone Katamanso.
The Municipal Director of Health Services expressed appreciation to the Assembly for its continuous support and reiterated the Health Directorate’s commitment to working closely with the newly inaugurated Committee to address key health challenges, strengthen preventive services, and improve overall health outcomes in the Municipality.
