FOUR-DAY CLEAN-UP EXERCISE AT KPONE-KATAMANSO MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY (KKMA)

The Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly (KKMA) organized a four-day clean-up exercise from Wednesday 21st to Saturday 24th January 2026 as part of its ongoing efforts to improve environmental sanitation and promote public health within the municipality. The exercise formed part of the Assembly’s commitment to sustaining cleanliness and preventing sanitation-related diseases in communities across the municipality.

The clean-up exercise was carried out in selected communities across the municipality, covering major streets, market centers, lorry stations, and public drains. Activities undertaken during the exercise included sweeping of streets and public spaces, desilting and clearing of gutters, collection and proper disposal of solid waste, and cleaning of market environments. Residents were also sensitised on the importance of maintaining proper sanitation and adopting good hygiene practices in their daily activities.

On Day One, Wednesday 21st January 2026, the exercise was conducted at Oyibi Township, covering the Oyibi Junction, Taxi Station, principal streets, and public drains. Day Two, Thursday 22nd January 2026, focused on Gbetsile Township, where clean-up activities were carried out along the principal street, Gbetsile Station, and surrounding drains. Day Three, Friday 23rd January 2026, extended to Zenu, Atadeka, Zone 5, Kubekrom, and Katamanso, including the Zenu Market, Atadeka Station, principal streets, and public drains. The exercise concluded on Day Four, Saturday 24th January 2026, at Kpone Township, covering the Kpone Market, lorry station, ECG to School Junction, and the stretch from the School Junction to the Police Station.

The exercise recorded active participation from community members, traditional authorities, Assembly staff, and other stakeholders, reflecting a strong sense of communal responsibility. The collective effort significantly improved the cleanliness of the affected areas and enhanced public awareness on environmental sanitation and hygiene practices.
