HEPATITIS AWARENESS MONTH

As part of activities to commemorate Hepatitis Awareness Month and in anticipation of World Hepatitis Day on 28th July 2026, the HIV Unit of Kpone Katamanso Municipal Health Directorate, led by the Municipal HIV Coordinator, Mrs Emelia Abrokwah , in collaboration with the Public Health Unit of the 1 Medical Reception Station, organized a health education session for personnel of the 851 Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Regiment at Michel Camp on 8th July 2026.

Held under the 2026 World Hepatitis Day theme, “Hepatitis: Let’s Break It Down,” the session focused on increasing awareness of Hepatitis and HIV. Participants received education on the causes, modes of transmission, prevention, and the importance of early testing and treatment. Soldiers were encouraged to know their status through regular testing and to seek timely care where necessary.

As part of the outreach, HIV oral self-test kits were distributed to promote convenient, confidential, and accessible HIV testing.

Kpone Katamanso Municipal Health Directorate remains committed to strengthening public health education, promoting healthy lifestyles, and supporting national efforts to eliminate Hepatitis and HIV as public health threats.
