The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in collaboration with the National Disaster and Management Organization (NADMO) has conducted a fire safety training for staff members. The training program was held at the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly (KKMA) on 12th May, 2026.

In his opening remarks, the head of Department for Nadmo at KKMA, Mr. Abraham Nartey Tetteh noted that the training was to improve public safety and emergency response capacity especially during a fire outbreak. He urged participants to pay attention to the resource persons as they take them through the training. Mr. Tetteh disclosed that staff of Nadmo would be deployed in the various communities across the Municipality to sensitized residents on fire safety protocols.

Speaking on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of KKMA, Hon. George Ahingua, Presiding Member of KKMA said ‘fire is a good servant but a bad master’ He emphasized that the training program was good for managers of disaster such as Nadmo since participants would be given the basic knowledge in fire safety.

Mr. Ahenkorah one of the resource persons from the GNFS explained that the three major hazards at homes and offices are chemical, fire and electrical. He advised participants to prevent overloading of sockets and use appropriate cables for required

He also advised that cylinders should not be placed in the horizontal position after filling. Mr. Ahenkorah encouraged the public to discard their cylinders after 10 years of use.
Participants were given a practical lesson on how to use a fire extinguisher to quench fire.
