This report presents a comprehensive account of the official visit undertaken by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly (KKMA), Hon. Samuel T. K. Morton, to selected Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) centres within the Municipality. The visit took place on Monday, 4th May and Tuesday, 5th May 2026, coinciding with the commencement of the 2026 BECE nationwide.
The visit aimed to assess the preparedness of examination centres and ensure a conducive environment for the smooth conduct of the BECE. It also sought to encourage candidates and boost their morale and also to wish them well, while cautioning them against examination malpractice and promoting integrity and discipline.
Hon. Morton used the opportunity to interact with invigilators, supervisors and WAEC officials at the examination centres. The MCE presented some writing material to candidates in all the centres visited.
Mr. Harry Evans Arthur, the Municipal Director of Education revealed that 10,186 candidates consisting of 4,976 boys and 5,160 girls were writing the 2026 BECE in 34 centres across the Kpone-Katamanso Municipality. In addressing the candidates at the Michel Camp Basic School, Mr. Arthur encouraged them not to indulge in any form of examination malpractices. He also entreated them to stay calm and disciplined.
The BECE centres visited by Hon. T.K. Morton and his entourage included Katamanso KKMA Basic, Katamanso KKMA JHS, Paulinn Preparatory School, Noble Kids Academy, Zenu KKMA School, Precious School Complex, God’s Glory Education Centre, Kuberkro KKMA Basic School among others.
The MCE was accompanied by Mr. H.E Arthur, the Municipal Education Director, Mr.Watts Atiapa, the Personal Assistant to the MCE, Madam Sandra Kumi, Assistant Director, Rebecca Osei-Mensah, Municipal Information Officer and other Officials from the Municipal Education Directorate.
The visit was successful and impactful, allowing the Assembly to assess conditions, engage stakeholders, and motivate candidates. Overall, the exercise demonstrated the Assembly’s commitment to supporting education within the Municipality
