A special meeting to elect a presiding member was held on 23rd Feb, 2026 at the Municipal Assembly Hall. The meeting was attended by Assembly members, government appointees, heads of departments/units and security officials.
The Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), Mr. Ali Amadu Mohammed welcomed everyone to the meeting and wished the house a fruitful deliberations. He explained to the house that, the election had to be done because of standing Order 7 and 10. He introduced the sole candidate contesting in the person of Hon. George Ahinguah.
The Municipal Electoral commissioner and her team conducted the election. At the end of polls, the candidate, Hon. Ahinguah obtained 28 yes-representing 100% of the vote cast.

Her Lordship J.VA Akpanya, Magistrate at the Kpone District Court, administered the oath of office, secrecy and allegiance.
The newly elected PM in a brief remark expressed his gratitude to all Assembly members and government appointees for their unflinching support. He promised to work assiduously to transform the entire Municipality.

There was also a briefing on Nkoko nketenkete by the Ag. Regional Director of Agriculture, Ms. Rogatta Antwi. She explained that the Nkoko nketekete is flagship program introduced by the Mahama-led administration to ensure there is food security, nutrition and provide additional income to beneficiaries. Ms. Antwi explained further that, beneficiaries will receive starter packs consisting of improved breed of poultry and supplied with 10-50 birds at four (4) weeks to be raised for meat and eggs. They would also be provided with battery cages, feed and vaccines.
