END OF YEAR PERFORMANCE REVIEW FOR 2025 HELD BY KKMA HEALTH DIRECTORATE.

The Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Health Directorate held its Annual Performance Review Meeting for 2025, which seeks to foster collaboration between stakeholders to address shortfalls in the health sector within the Municipality. The meeting took place on 26th February, 2026 at the Assembly Hall.

The theme for the meeting was “Advancing health equity through innovation, data and community action, integrating technology, people and partnership for a healthy Kpone-Katamanso”.

The Municipal Health Director; Dr. Esther P.B. Danquah addressing the gathering said the performance review form part of bottom-up assessment process within the Ghana Health Service structure, where health facilities conduct internal reviews before consolidating findings at the municipal, regional and national levels. She also stated that, the exercise provides an opportunity to reflect on achievements, identify challenges and develop strategies to enhance service delivery. She further stated that the Municipality commenced the year 2025 with Cholera outbreak and ended the year with outbreak of monkey pox (Mpox).

  

DR. DANQUAH DELIVERING THE KEYNOTE ADDRESS

She lamented about inadequate health infrastructure, security and logistical challenges in the Municipality and acknowledged the commitment, dedication and sacrifices of staff in ensuring delivery of quality health care as result of teamwork and good leadership. She enumerated some achievements such as viral testing of persons living with HIV increased from 69% to 139%, measles reversal through vaccination increased from 94% to 105%, TB preventive therapy also increased from 60% to 97%, anemia at 36 weeks has improved from 50% to 23.5%, increase A&C attendance within 1st trimester 38.8% to 41.7%, family planning increased from 28.8% to 32.6% etc. She expressed appreciation for the immense support received from partners and key stakeholders including Assembly and express optimism for greater support and collaboration within 2026 to build a resilient health system within the Municipality.

Mr. Mohammed Ali Amadu, the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), representing the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Morton, read a speech on his  behalf, he expressed profound gratitude to the health directorate for delivering quality health care to residents of the Municipality and beyond. He acknowledged some challenges faced by the Municipality such as rapid population growth, environmental concerns and increased demand for health services. He stated that, he’s encouraged by the directorate continuous effort to strengthen disease surveillance and humanization coverage and expand access to primary health care through community base health planning services which has contributed significantly to decrease preventable, improving maternal and child birth and enhancing early detection and respond to public health threats. He encouraged the directorate to make innovation and data central in their strategy because reliable health data enables effective planning, effective allocation of resources and respond properly to emerging health needs.

He further assured health workers of government and Assembly’s commitment to improving health infrastructure in the Municipality. He said several health facility projects are underway, with contractors given strict timelines to complete. He said Assembly has sought approval from COMMON FUND to pay outstanding debt owed contractors to complete ongoing health facilities.

Mr. Dickson Fummey, special aide to the Member of Parliament for Kpone-Katamanso Constituency, commended health workers for their dedication and resilience despite resource constraints. He reaffirmed the MP’s commitment to supporting the health sector through infrastructure development, provision of equipment and organization of medical outreaches. He said healthcare is fundamental to national development. Quality healthcare must not be a privilege but a right for every resident.

The Directorate presented awards to the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Samuel T.K.Morton for his support to enhance health delivery in the Municipality. The Member of Parliament, Hon. Joseph Akuertey Tettey also received an award for providing the needed support and collaboration in delivering health care. Some Assembly members were also given awards for their continuous support and dedication in assisting health worker undertake their duties within their electoral areas in the Municipality. Health professionals who have also distinguished themselves in delivering health care were also awarded for their hard work.

The recipient in their acceptance speech expressed delight for the honor done them and pledged to do more to improve on health care delivery.

The review meeting brought together staff from the Municipal Assembly, traditional authorities, private and public health institutions and other stakeholders to assess performance and strategies for improved healthcare delivery in 2026.
