KKMA OBSERVES MY FIRST DAY AT SCHOOL

The Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly (KKMA), in collaboration with the Municipal Education Directorate, observed “My First Day at School” celebration on 2nd September, 2025 in selected basic schools within the municipality. The program, which forms part of a national initiative, is celebrated annually to welcome new pupils into formal education and to create an exciting and memorable first-day experience for them.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE); Hon. Samuel T.K. Morton, was accompanied by officials from the Assembly and the Municipal Director of Education for KKMA; Mr. Harry Evans Arthur.

As part of the exercise, the team visited several schools and presented educational materials such as exercise books, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, soft drinks, and biscuits to pupils in Kindergarten 1 (KG1) and Basic 1. The gesture was aimed at welcoming the children into the 2025/2026 academic year and motivating them to take their studies seriously.

In his brief remarks, Hon. Samuel T.K. Morton encouraged the young learners to pay attention to lessons, remain disciplined, and stay committed to their education. He further assured parents, teachers, and stakeholders of the Assembly’s continuous dedication to improving educational standards within the municipality.

 On his part, the Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Harry Evans Arthur, underlined that the purpose of the initiative was to meet and interact with new pupils while creating a positive and welcoming learning environment for children beginning their formal education. He also emphasized the importance of early childhood education as a foundation for academic success.

Some of the schools visited during the exercise included Kpone Methodist A and B Basic Schools, Kpone Presbyterian Basic School, Gonten KKMA Basic School, Saduase KKMA Basic School Kuberkro KKMA Basic School and Haanan KKMA Basic School.
