INAUGURATION CEREMONY FOR NEW RECRUITS FIRE SERVICE AND COMMUNITY POLICE ASSISTANTS AT KKMA

The Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly (KKMA) in collaboration with the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has inaugurated 74 youth in the Municipality as fire service and community police assistants.

In a special ceremony to swear in the new recruits on 15th September, 2025 at the Assembly hall, Hon. Jerry John Adjorlolo; Municipal Co-ordinator for the YEA in a welcome address applauded the newly recruited fire service and community police assistants for diligently going through their trainings to acquire the requisite skills to work. Hon. Adlorlolo disclosed that the 74 deployed comprises of 31 fire service assistants and 43 community police assistants. He appealed to them to let hard work, dedication and civic responsibility be their hallmark.

The Member of Parliament for the Kpone-Katamanso Constituency; Hon. Joseph Akuerteh Tettey congratulated the graduates for successfully going through their training and recruitment process. Hon. Tettey said the gesture is in fulfilment of offering employment opportunity for the youth. He encouraged them to effectively implement the skills acquired during their training and be good ambassadors wherever they find themselves.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for KKMA, Hon. Samuel Tetteh Kwarshie Morton stated that the deployment of the fire service and community police assistants were necessitated because of the high rate of robbery in the early hours of the day across the Municipality. The Hon. MCE promised to assist the newly recruits in whichever way possible in order for them to deliver on their mandate. He also admonished them to be disciplined, respectful and committed to the tasked they have been assigned.

The District fire officer, DFO Mercy Amoah of the Ghana National Fire service (GNFS) called on the enrolled fire service assistants to uphold the vision of the service at all times by promptly responding to fire outbreaks in order to save lives and properties.

ASP Isaac Mensah, who represented the Ghana Police Service (GPS) emphasized that the mandate of GPS is to protect, detect and prevent crimes. He therefore entreated the fire and community police assistants to be time conscious in order to positively impact the communities they have been placed.

The Regional Director of the YEA, Hon Mohammed Juda advised the new recruits be disciplined and respect their superiors at all times. He called on the fire service assistants to regularly sensitized residents on fire prevention methods and safety precaution measures.
