Introduction:
As part of efforts to promote the economic empowerment and social inclusion of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly, on Thursday, 26th June 2025, held a disbursement ceremony under the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) allocated for PWDs. This initiative is a demonstration of the Assembly’s commitment to improving the livelihoods of PWDs through sustainable income-generating activities.

The various items for Disbursement
Categories of Beneficiaries:
A total of twenty-one (21) beneficiaries, drawn from the municipality, received support. These included:
- Physically Challenged Persons
- Visually Impaired Individuals
- Hearing Impaired Persons
- Children with Special Needs (with their caregivers)
Each beneficiary was carefully selected following a thorough needs assessment and business plan evaluation.
Details of Support:
The items distributed were based on the specific income-generating activities of the beneficiaries. These included:
- Deep freezers
- Displayed fridge
- Oven
- Fufu pounding machine
- Bags of charcoal
- Assorted provisions and groceries
- Second hand clothing
- Ladies footwear
The support is expected to enable beneficiaries to either begin or expand their small-scale businesses, thereby promoting financial independence and reducing reliance on external assistance.

Purpose of the Disbursement:
The main objectives of this exercise were to:
Empower Persons with Disabilities economically
Promote social and economic inclusion
Reduce poverty and dependence among vulnerable groupsSupport sustainable livelihoods within the municipality
Dignitaries Present:
The occasion was graced by key stakeholders and dignitaries including:
- The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE)
- The Presiding Member (PM)
- The Municipal Coordinating Director
- The Head of Social Welfare and Community Development and her staff
- Chairperson of the Social Services Sub-committee
- Honourable Assembly Members
The MCE commended the beneficiaries and encouraged them to be good stewards of the support provided, assuring the public of the Assembly’s continued support for persons with disabilities. He also expressed gratitude to all partners and stakeholders who contributed to the success of this noble initiative.

Conclusion:
