CIVIC EDUCATION CLUB ACTIVITIES AT MOUNT ZION INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL – BY NCEE

The Kpone Katamanso Municipal NCCE’s zenu zonal council office staff led by Benedicta Eyram Amekuadzi (PCEO) as part of the offices civic education activities on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 engaged learners from MAG Mount Zion Int Sch situated at Katamanso on the Overview of NCCE:  The learners which comprises of basic 3-6 and JHS 1-2 learners totalling 662 were taken through the rationale behind NCCE, thematic areas, composition, core values, functions, patriotism and personal hygiene.

In her delivery, Ms. Amekuadzi educated the learners on how the three (3) previous Constitutions of Ghana suffered abuse and violations when they were overthrown by a coup d’etat, therefore in its planning on revisiting the path of Constitutional democracy there were some concerns, and out of the many ideas a consensus was reached on was the need to reintroduce civic education into the nations body politics.

As a result, the framers of the 1992 Constitution dedicated chapter 19 to the set-up of NCCE afterwards established under an act of parliament in 1993 (Act 452).

NCCE is both Constitutional and Independent body run by a 7 member team ie: the chairperson, 2 deputies and 4 members. Again NCCE is present in all the 16 administrative regions, the metropolitan, municipal, districts office, its education covers voter education, sustainable management of the environment etc thereby instilling the spirit of patriotism in the Ghanaian people.

In conclusion, the learners were encouraged them to take their personal hygiene seriously thereby observing personal hygiene best practices at home and school by washing bed sheets, towels, hands before and after meals, brushing of teeth. These when observe will boast their self confidence.
