Kpone Katamanso Municipal Health Directorate, in collaboration with Katamanso Health Centre, successfully commemorated World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026 at Katamanso Presbyterian Junior High School on Thursday 4th June, 2026
The event received generous support from the Medical Women’s Association of Ghana (MWAG), Shalina Pharmacy and YAZZ, whose contributions helped make the programme a success.
Present at the event were Dr. Mavis Oppong, Medical Superintendent of Ashaiman Hospital, Dr. Esther P. B. Danquah, Municipal Director of Health Services for Kpone Katamanso Municipality, members of the Municipal Health Management Team, management and Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) staff of Katamanso Health Centre, teachers, and students of Katamanso Presbyterian JSS.
As part of the activities, students were taken through practical demonstrations on the correct use of sanitary pads and the proper disposal of used pads. The RCH team also delivered health education sessions on menstrual hygiene management, personal cleanliness, and the importance of maintaining good hygiene practices during menstruation.
The programme created an opportunity to educate and empower adolescent girls with accurate information about menstruation while helping to break myths, misconceptions, and stigma associated with menstrual health.
Kpone Katamanso Municipal Health Directorate remains committed to promoting adolescent health and ensuring that girls are empowered to manage their menstruation safely, confidently, and with dignity.
