The National Information Technology Agency (NITA) Recognition Awards and Dinner was held on Friday, 21st August 2026, at The Underbridge, East Legon, Accra. The event brought the 2026 National ICT Week celebration to a close and provided an opportunity to recognize individuals, institutions, organizations and stakeholders whose contributions have supported the growth and development of Ghana’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) ecosystem.
The 2026 National ICT Week was organized under the theme: “Innovation at Scale: Creating 0pportunities across Ghana’s digital ecosystem.”
The theme reflected the need for Ghana to move beyond isolated technological innovations and focus on scaling digital solutions that can create employment, improve public service delivery, strengthen businesses and contribute meaningfully to national development.
NITA’s National ICT Week is positioned as a platform for government, industry, academia, innovators, investors, technology professionals and other stakeholders to exchange ideas and promote collaboration towards Ghana’s digital transformation agenda.
PURPOSE OF THE EVENT
The Recognition Awards and Dinner was organized to:
- Recognize and celebrate outstanding contributions to Ghana’s ICT and digital transformation agenda.
- Appreciate individuals and institutions that have demonstrated excellence, innovation and commitment to the development of the digital ecosystem.
- Provide a networking platform for stakeholders within Ghana’s technology sector.
- Encourage innovation, creativity and the adoption of digital technologies.
- Bring the 2026 National ICT Week celebration to a befitting conclusion.
- Strengthen collaboration among government institutions, the private sector, academia, technology companies, innovators and other stakeholders.
The event also highlighted Ghana’s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy and the importance of developing digital skills to enable citizens to participate effectively in the digital economy. The One Million Coders Programme was also identified as an important initiative for developing practical digital and coding skills among Ghanaians.

CONCLUSION
For the Local Government Service and MMDAs, the event provided valuable lessons on the importance of digitalization, innovation, cyber security, digital skills development, artificial intelligence and collaboration.
Going forward, public institutions should seek to translate the lessons from the 2026 National ICT Week into practical initiatives that improve internal operations and enhance the quality, accessibility and efficiency of services delivered to citizens.
