NATIONAL YOUTH CONFERENCE, 2025.

The National Youth Conference, organized by the National Youth Authority (NYA), was a three-day event held from September 3rd to September 5th, 2025. The conference, which brought together key leaders and about three thousand (3,000) young people, was held under the theme: “Igniting Potentials and Inspiring Change”.

MEANING OF YOUTH LEADERSHIP AND EMPOWERMENT THROUGH PANEL DISCUSSIONS AND DEBATES

Objectives

  • To bring together young people, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss youth empowerment, skill development, and national growth.
  • To equip the youth with the knowledge, motivation, and practical strategies for success.
  • To provide a platform for interactive panel discussions.
  • To create networking opportunities among young leaders and policymakers.
  • To increase awareness among the youth on financial discipline, entrepreneurship, and reinvestment.
  • To foster collaboration between government and young leaders.

Activities

Day 1: Wednesday, September 3, 2025

The first day was dedicated to the arrival, registration, and orientation of participants.

NATIONAL YOUTH DELEGATES, DIRECTORS, AND AMBASSADORS AND YOUTH LEADERS ENGAGED IN COORDINATED EFFORTS TOWARDS  THE CELEBRATION OF THE NATIONAL YOUTH CONFERENCE

Day 2: Thursday, September 4, 2025.

The second day began with a plenary session from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., which included an opening prayer, the Youth Anthem, and the introduction of dignitaries.

Firstly, welcome addresses were delivered by Hon. Ekow Panyin Okyere Eduamoah and Hon. Paitoo De-Graft Desmond.

Secondly, keynote speeches were presented by Mr. Osman Ayariga, Chief Executive Officer of the NYA, and Hon. George Opare Addo, Interim Leadership of the Ghana Youth Federation (GYF).

Thirdly, solidarity messages were shared by Hon. Felix Gyamfi, Malik Basintale, and Eric Agyei.

Fourthly, special presentation was delivered by Dr. Saajida Shiraz.

 Fifthly, a panel discussion was held on the theme “Youth Participation in Decision Making: Youth Voices, Real Power”, moderated by Karen Quartey. The session concluded with an open forum and the inauguration of the Ghana Youth Federation (GYF) Interim Leadership. Breakout workshops were conducted from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., covering topics like apprenticeships, women in AI, political leadership, and entrepreneurship.

NATIONAL YOUTH CONFERENCE ILLUMINATES YOUTH PARTICIPATION IN YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS AND YOUTH POLICY ADVOCACY

Day 3: Friday, September 5, 2025

The third day started with a plenary session from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., featuring remarks from youth organizations, statements from UN representatives, and a presentation on “Youth as a Demographic Dividend for Ghana”. The International Youth Day celebration on the third day was held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

This celebration to begin with, included an inspection of the Guard of Honor and speeches by Nana Abor Atta II and Hon. George Opare Addo.

Secondly, a youth dialogue was led by Hon. Julius Debrah, the Chief of Staff. During the dialogue, he encouraged participants to remain focused and believe in their potential. He also reassured them that former President John Dramani Mahama remains deeply committed to youth development.

Finally, the event was officially concluded with a vote of thanks by Inusah Mahamah, Islamic prayers, and media engagement.

BETWEEN AND ACROSS TRIBAL, ETHNIC, RELIGIOUS AND CULTURAL LINES

Challenge

The main challenge was the limited duration of the program, which did not allow enough time for all planned workshops and discussions.

Achievements

The conference successfully achieved the following:

  • It amplified youth voices and highlighted their critical role in national development.
  • It fostered stronger collaboration between the government and young leaders.
  • It raised awareness of financial discipline, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
  • It provided actionable strategies to equip the youth for success.

Recommendations

Recommendations were made to address the challenges:

  • Extend the duration of the event to allow for more workshops and deeper engagement.
  • Incorporate virtual participation to widen the conference’s reach.
  • Ensure follow-up reports are conducted to measure the impact of resolutions and policy discussions.

Conclusion

The National Youth Conference 2025 successfully positioned youth at the center of Ghana’s development agenda. It inspired change, strengthened networks, and provided actionable insights. The event proved that when diverse stakeholders unite around a shared vision, the energy and innovation of young people can ignite real progress for national transformation.
