LAUNCHING OF TEMA REGIONAL BUSH FIRE PREVENTION CAMPAIGN ON THE 16TH FEBRUARY, 2024 AT KPONE METHODIST PARK.

The programme was organized by the Ghana National Fire Service Tema Regional Command.

THEME: 60 YEARS OF EXISTENCE: BUSH FIRE PREVENTION-KEY TO SUSTAINING OUR NATIONAL RESOURCES AND FOOD SECURITY.

The programme was chaired by the Paramount Chief of Kpone Traditional Council NII Tetteh Otu II

The Regional Commander Tema Region and the Director of Rural Fire, Ghana National Fire Service Headquarters Accra. Also representatives from other security agencies such as the Police, Immigration Service, Ambulance Service and Heads of Departments.

The Paramount Chief of Kpone Traditional Council NII Tetteh Otu II welcome all to the august occasion/ function and wish all a successful and memorable stay in his Traditional area during the launching.

In her welcome address, the Tema Regional Commander ACFO1 Doris Lamptey was happy for choosing the Kpone Municipality for this year annual fire prevention launch, 2024 Bush Fire Prevention Campaign.

She said with training and passing out of about 30 fire volunteer squared a larger number of the citizens within the municipality would get the awareness of fire prevention message.

The key note address which was delivered by the Director of Rural fire, have stated that, the year 2022 recorded four thousand, four hundred and seventy two (4,472)  fire out breaks.

He however stressed that due to education and campaigns such as this, they have been able reduced the fire outbreaks by Thirty percent (30%) in 2023.

In a speech read on his behalf, Hon. Dr. Samuel Okoe Amanquah the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Kpone Katamanso Municipal Assembly noted that, preventive measures such as this was worth supporting Considering the effect of bush, Domestic and industrial fires, if it does occurred, the destruction of lives and property as well as its attendant toll on our National Economy. He also used the opportunity to congratulate the volunteers who have pass out for their resilient and endurance during the training.

The representative of the MCE together with the Director of Rural fire presented certificates, tools and fire fighting equipment’s to the volunteers.

The paramount Chief of Kpone Traditional Council Nii Tetteh Otu II, who also double as the chair thanked the Ghana National Fire Service Tema Regional Command, MCE’S representative, the invited guest and all stakeholders for bringing such important programme to his Traditional Area and hope the education on fire prevention will go down well with his people and Ghanaians as a whole.
