The Kpone branch of the Ghana Federation of Disability Organisation on the 31st August, 2022 organised elections for its executives at the Municipal Assembly Hall.
The Director of Social Welfare and community development; Madam Edna Parku before the elections welcomed participants and called on them to forge for peace and unity of their association at all times.
A Deputy Director at KKMA, Mr Kenneth N. Daniels for his part, admonished members that it was necessary to elect a leaders to steer the affairs of the organisation because all the members cannot lead at the same time. He also entreated the upcoming leaders to be circumspect in the discharge of their duties. He also advised them to avoid discrimination by bringing the views of all members on board.
The Ghana Federation Disability Organisation represents over 3 million persons with disabilities (PWDs). The organisation champions engagements towards assuring the rights of PWDs to access justice, governance, information, health, employment, economic welfare and recreation. It also brings together key organisations of PWDs in Ghana.
At the end of the election, the following new executives who will be in office for next three years were elected. Mr Alfred Teye of the Ghana Blind Union, Kpone-Katamanso was elected as the President. Mr Kwame A. Daklo of the Ghana Association of persons with Albinism (GAPA) was elected the Vice- President. Madam Rebecca Quarshie of the Kpone- Katamanso branch of the Ghana Society of the Physically Disabled (GSPD) is now the Gender representitive.
