The Human Resource Department of Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly in conjunction with the Presiding Member; Honorable Joseph Kwesi Gbeze, organized a 3-days residential training programs for all the Honorable Assembly Members from the eighteen (18) electoral areas which constituted the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal at Atimpoku in the Eastern Region. The workshop aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of honorable members on decentralization and its processes thereby improve their administration at the grassroots level.

The Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD) Mr. Michael-Owusu Amoako welcomed the Honorable Assembly Members to the workshop and expressed hope that the workshop would be beneficial to them. He appealed with them to take advantage of the program and asked questions that would bother them on the topics that would be treated.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Mr. Samuel Okoe Amanquah who was a participant gave a welcome address laying emphasis on the essence of the workshop which was to impact them with knowledge and harness their capabilities that would enable them perform their mandated responsibilities with any difficulties. He explained that the workshop was to help them to be abreast with their codes of ethics as well as the rules and regulations that governed the operations of Honorable Assembly Members thereby, promote the aim of decentralization agenda by bringing development to the door-steps of the people.

The Presiding Member expressed his appreciation to management of the Assembly and added that, members should make themselves available as well as ask questions which could enhance their capacity that would enable them bring themselves to the level of the electorates and thereby increase their approachableness as they provide services to the very people who elected them to office.
The Consultants for the workshop were Mr. Mac- Donald Acquah; Executive Director of Boundless Consultancy Group and Mr. Nana Coleman Gyandor. Some of the topics treated at the workshop were; Ghana’s Decentralization Policy and Local Governance System, The Role and Responsibilities of Assembly Members, The Assembly Member as a leader and change manager, Localizing ‘Ghana Beyond Aid’, Payment or Procurement Process through GIFMIS, Budget Estimate and Actual Expenditure and Stressed Management.
